Independent Scrutiny of Police Powers Panel Reports

The Independent Scrutiny of Police Powers Panel (ISoPPP) have been appointed to review the use of police powers to ensure they are being used appropriately and proportionately. This includes reviewing the use of TASERS, Stop and Search, Body Worn Cameras and the Use of Force.

The Panel consists of independent volunteers from across Avon and Somerset and acts as a constructive ‘critical friend’ to Avon and Somerset Police. It aims to support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Constabulary and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Panel meets quarterly to review a sample of files and footage on police power and provides feedback on their findings. Visit Avon and Somerset Police’s website for more information about Stop and Search Rights.
