PCC Clare Moody Secures Long-Term Support for Victims-Survivors of Sexual Violence

Clare Moody, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Avon and Somerset, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting victims-survivors of sexual violence by awarding over £1 million annually to Safe Link in partnership with One25. This funding will ensure the continuation and enhancement of Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) services across the region, offering specialist support to adults, children, and vulnerable groups.

Clare Moody, Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset, said:

“Every survivor’s journey is different, and the work of Safe Link and One25 ensures that victims of sexual violence have access to the specialist support they need, when they need it. Services like these are a lifeline, and I’m proud to see this partnership setting the stage to deliver real change for survivors.”

ISVAs play a vital role in the recovery journey of victims-survivors of sexual violence. They provide independent support tailored to each person’s needs, from navigating the criminal justice system to accessing therapeutic services.

Sarah O’Leary, CEO of Safe Link, said:

“Our externally accredited and award-winning ISVA team is proud to have won the recommissioning to continue to deliver ISVA support to adult and child survivors of rape and sexual assault across Avon and Somerset. In this new partnership, Safe Link Plus, we commit to reaching out to victims from all communities, providing the independent, specialist and compassionate advice and support that they deserve after being subjected to sexual violence.”

Jenny Riley, CEO of One25, added:

“One25 are delighted to partner with Safe Link in delivering this vital support to women who street sex work in Bristol. Together we will ensure that more people can get the help they need, when and where they need it.”

The recommissioning of this critical service underscores the PCC’s dedication to ensuring victims-survivors have expert support and care. By investing in expanded service hours, outreach initiatives, and a new welfare fund, the PCC aims to break down barriers to accessing support.

This funding, allocated as part of the PCC’s comprehensive victims’ services provision, represents a long-term investment in the safety and wellbeing of survivors. Service contracts will commence on April 1, 2025, and run for up to seven years, ensuring stability and consistent care for victims across Avon and Somerset.
