PCC statement following fatal stabbing in Bristol

I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Kunta Ceesay in Bristol on Friday. My thoughts are with his family and friends as they face this unimaginable loss.

I am grateful to the officers and all those involved from Avon and Somerset Police for their swift response, both in their attempts to save Kunta’s life, and in their tireless work to locate the person responsible for this attack. A suspect has been arrested and charged.

I also want to acknowledge the impact this will have on local residents. You should feel safe in your communities.  Tackling serious violence remains a key priority for me and my office. As you would expect, I am in close communication with the Avon and Somerset Police about this incident.
