125 bleed kits sent out to communities across Avon and Somerset
125 bleed kits have been sent out to Avon & Somerset Communities, commissioned by Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Clare Moody.
Bleed kits are lifesaving medical supply packs that are designed to be easy to use to keep an injured person alive if they are suffering significant blood loss.
A bleed kit is a specialised first aid kit that contains specialised tools like tourniquets, haemostatic dressings, and pressure bandages, along with easy-to-follow instructions.
They are located in public spaces across Avon & Somerset where they can be easily accessed in the case of an emergency.
Police and Crime Commissioner Clare Moody, said:
“From talking to people across Avon and Somerset, I understand that addressing knife crime is a significant concern for many, and for those directly impacted, the consequences are life changing. The top priority must be to reduce and prevent knife crime.
As we all work towards this goal, it is essential to ensure that anyone wounded in such incidents has immediate access to the treatment that can make a critical difference. These bleed control kits provide the necessary equipment and instructions to stabilise individuals until they can receive medical care.
“This initiative, alongside many other ongoing efforts is to prevent knife crime, aims to ensure that no more lives are lost.”
