Clare Moody, newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), has been out and about in Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) today as part of her community engagement.

The day of visits to partner agencies, commissioned services and local people is one of five in each local authority area of Avon and Somerset, and is a key part of Clare’s 100 days in office engagement programme, which has been underway since she was elected in May.

The focus of Clare’s community engagement is her Police and Crime Plan public consultation, and will also include public forums, focus groups, as well as an online survey to seek people’s views, launching on August 12th.

Clare’s tour of community engagement days across Avon and Somerset will be complete by the end of August, which will mark her first 100 days in office.

Clare said: “I am looking forward to being out and about across the whole of Avon and Somerset, starting today in the Bath area.

“It’s really important, particularly over the coming months as I am writing my police and crime plan, that I meet people in our communities and hear the voices of people and professionals, to inform my plan and help me understand how the police and partner agencies can deliver improved policing, victim support and criminal justice services for everyone.”

A Police and Crime Plan is a statutory duty of a PCC and is a blueprint for policing in the area. Clare would like local people to help shape the focus of the plan, which the Chief Constable will then use to make decisions about resources and delivery of the police service in your area.

Clare will launch a consultation on her draft plan and priorities on August 12th.
